The Finnish American Business Council of the Greater Washington Area

The Finnish-American Business Council of the Greater Washington Area (FABC) was established in 2002 by 17 individuals and eight corporations, and on the initiative of Mr. Kari Janhunen of the Embassy of Finland/Finpro in Washington DC and Mr. Jerome Akman of Thelen Reid & Priest. Mr. Akman is also a board member of the Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York.
The mission of the Council is to provide a forum for representatives of Finnish and international business and professional communities, and to facilitate professional relationships and information sharing in Finnish-American business community. Washington DC region is not only the center of the American government, it is also the home of international development banks, international politics and news media, and has a number of significant research institutions, as well as 24 Finnish companies.
The Council has a focus on economic, business and policy issues, and on networking of business representatives and professionals. Furthermore, the Council has expanded the topic selection from the traditional business and commerce among corporations to include also the significant sector of business conducted by governmental entities, research organizations, and the media.
