President's Message

Tervetuloa! I am pleased to welcome you to our website.

When I first joined FACC-Midwest, I had lived several years in the U.S. with no contact or knowledge of the Finnish-American community here. I was losing the command of my mother tongue, bereft of Finnish associations, and definitely in acute need of a good sauna. How I had managed to remain so detached is hard to imagine now! FACC connected me with a wonderful group of people who promptly set me straight. Today, with Finland starring in international rankings of competitiveness, education, and clean business practices, I am proud to be among its representatives here in the Midwest.

Whether you are wondering what the local Finnish-American business community is up to, looking for corporate contacts or cultural events, or just miss ruisleipa, you’ve come to the right place. Our Chamber’s history goes back over 40 years, and we keep trying to find ways to serve the various needs of our diverse membership. FACC Midwest is an invaluable business resource, as well as a network of people who cherish Finnish traditions.
